Experience

Gideon obtained the B Comm and LLB degrees at the University of Pretoria, and served his articleship with Couzyn Hertzog & Horak in Pretoria.

Thereafter he joined the Vanderbijlpark branch of Rooth & Wessels, specializing in commercial law.

Prior to forming his own practice, he further obtained a LLM degree at Unisa, with major subjects of Tax Law, Company law and Insolvency Law, including a thesis “A critical evaluation of sections 389 and 390 of the Companies Act”.

He also completed a Higher Diploma in Tax Law at the University of the Witwatersrand.

In 1993 he was appointed on the panel of chairman of the new Special Board for Income Tax Appeals, and served on the panel for 5 years in the Johannesburg and Germiston Boards.

He was author of Butterworths’ Special Income Tax Appeal Board Reports, and The Pay Package, a loose-leaf publication on employees’ tax and package structuring.
Gideon practices as a commercial attorney who specializes in commercial law.
